OUSEBURN UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB
Ouseburn
United were formed in 2002. The club is based on the playing field by the
Village Hall.
The club is managed by Dave Dwight and is made up primarily of players from Great Ouseburn, Green Hammerton, Kirk Hammerton, Whixley and surrounding areas. Dave had been involved in running the local football team at Green Hammerton for many years; Hammerton United. The club had enjoyed a great deal of success through the years, playing in the York FA Leaper-Hare League. The club's history goes back a long time - back even before Dave himself was still playing! However, after many happy years in Hammerton, last summer Dave decided to take up the offer of bringing a new village team to Great Ouseburn.
The 2002-2003 season saw Ouseburn United compete in their inaugural season in their new home - enjoying the fantastic pitch and facilities available at Great Ouseburn. The club attracted many new players and consolidated their position in Division Two, finishing in the mid-table position of 6th. Having settled in to their new home, Ouseburn United have begun training for the new season this summer with a great deal of optimism and expectation for the new season and fully expect to be pushing for promotion.
The club has training sessions down at the Village Hall Playing Field every Wednesday evening at 7pm. In pre-season there is an additional session or a friendly match every Thursday evening, also at 7pm, to help prepare for the new season which begins in early September. Matches are every Saturday and the season runs from September through until April.
Ouseburn United are always looking for new players to join the team. If anyone wants to come down and join in training on a Tuesday or Thursday evening they are very welcome. The club has a great team spirit and a play to a good standard of football (some of the time anyway!)
The
club is pleased to announce that it will again be sponsored by The Crown Inn at
Great Ouseburn for the 2003-2004 season. Many thanks to The Crown from the
players and management for it's continued support.
