Great Ouseburn Village Hall Committee Meeting

Wednesday 24th May 2006

 

In Attendance

Margaret Williams, Sue White, Eric Bryant, Keith Scott, Peter Naylor (substituting for Don McKenzie), Peter Goldsmith, Jane Ellis, Chris Brown and David Dwight.

Signing of acceptance and willingness to Deed of Trust

Those present signed to indicate their acceptance.

 

Minutes of the previous meeting

An amendment was made under Booking Inquiries in the minutes for 8th March 2006 changing “Sunday and Monday evenings” to “Saturday and Sunday evenings”.  With this amendment the minutes were agreed, proposed Sue White, seconded Margaret Williams.

The minutes of the 26th April 2006 were agreed, proposed Peter Naylor, seconded Eric Bryant.

 

Matters Arising

 

Co-option of Paul Thompson

Paul Thompson was duly co-opted onto the Village Hall Committee, proposed Chris Brown, seconded Margaret Williams.

 

Development of First Floor Facilities

It was decided to form a sub-committee to investigate the possibility of developing the first floor for use as a club room for the Cricket and Football clubs which would also be an additional room for letting (proposed Keith Scott, seconded Chris Brown). The committee will have no financial powers and will report back to the full Committee.  Eric Bryant, Andrew Wells, David Dwight, Paul Clayton Chris Brown and Keith Scott volunteered to sit on the committee and the first meeting will be on Monday, 12th June 2006, 7:30pm in the first floor room.

 

Spring Gardens

A donation of £1600 has been received from the Spring Gardens committee.  A request has also been received for the Village Hall committee to run the raffle for next years Spring Gardens.  The committee was willing to do this but with reservations about whether we would have to run a fund raising dance as well.  It was agreed to discuss this with the Spring Gardens committee at their next meeting in September.

 

Car Park

The hedge has now been planted along the Seggans side of the car park.  Fencing and line marking are still to be done.  Keith Scott is to obtain an update from Richard Kay and include on the agenda for the next meeting.

 

Hall improvements/repairs update

 

Bookings update

The bookings have now been confirmed for the Branton Green Bowls Club.  Thanks were expressed to Chris Brown, Anne Tankard and the Badminton Club for obtaining this agreement.

Finance Report

The amount currently ring fenced for the sound system is £1782.72.  At the next meeting work needs to be done to allocate budgets to projects.

 

Fund Raising

It was agreed to have a Football World Cup Final night on 9th July 2006.  Eric Bryant is to arrange the bar, Keith Scott the display equipment, Chris Brown, Eric Bryant and David Dwight to discuss and arrange food.

 

Indian Theme night to be put on the next meetings agenda.

 

AOB

The proposed Village Draw in aid of the Hall, School and Church is now hoped to be rolled out in September. 

Permission was given for a cell phone collection box to be placed in the Entrance Hall.

21st Birthday Event to be placed on the next agenda for discussion.
